Description
Powerscourt Waterfall ~ George Barret.
Powerscourt Waterfall by George Barret is one of several paintings by Barret of the famous cascade at Powerscourt. Barret spends many hours painting on the Powerscourt demesne. This composition celebrates the sublime in nature. The sublime embraces that which is vast, awe-inspiring, and uncontrollable in nature. Similarly, the sublime character of the scene is emphasized by placing a group of figures in the foreground. In other words, physically they are insignificant when compared to the waterfall.
