Around the Island : A Tour of Ireland in Photographs. The latest initiative from the National Library of Ireland. The NLI has uploaded photographs from their archives to give a sample of the history available from each county.

This wonderful initiative brings the history of each county to life through the rich and varied digital archive available to the Library. Kelly Cards has worked with the National Library of Ireland for many years to produce quality black and white cards that tell the history of our island.

In this book published by Manchester University Press the author chooses six artists to highlight the way that Dublin changes in the first half of the 20th Century. Among the artists covered are Harry Kernoff and Walter Osborne.

National Gallery of Ireland to celebrate George Bernard Shaw’s legacy.

George Bernard Shaw made a bequest to the National Gallery of Ireland on his death in 1950 that the Gallery should have one third of his posthumous royalties. The size of this gift was revealed by the NGI, €12.5 million over the seven decades since George Bernard Shaw died. The lifetime of this gift is drawing to a close as it only lasts as long as the witers copyright, seventy years after their death.

A number of works have been purchased by the Gallery including works by Rideric O’Conor, Walter Osborne and Sir John Lavery.
